The Diggers – San Francisco

The Diggers were a group of individuals who had a whole new vison of life. Their vision was for everyone to be equal, for all to be on the same level. No government involvement, no laws. The Digger wanted to change the world. Their first attempt was a program that they called a “feed-in”, where they would collect scraps of food that was left behind restaurants and supermarkets. Instead of throwing it away, the Diggers would collect the food and distribute it to the public free of charge. “an alternative society where food, shelter, entertainment was going to be free, without ideology”.  The Diggers were also against money, in December they had a “The Death March”, where they would publicly protest believing that money was “the root of all evil”.
